It has been a long time since I last purchased a home and I didn’t know what to expect. I had lived in my previous home, which we built, for 45 years and was out of touch with the real estate market. In 2012 we decided to put our Sidney townhouse on the market with a plan to purchase a cottage-style single family home close to Sidney and preferably in the Deep Cove area. We recognized that we were in a difficult and slow market. Peter came highly recommended. We met with Peter and told him our plan. He was obviously very knowledgeable about the market, the area that we were interested in and very professional in his approach. He researched the market and after a short period of time came back to us with a possible scenario of a house in our desired area.
We went and saw the house and felt that it fulfilled all of our wishes. Eventually he sold our townhouse and we moved into our new home in November. We had already recommended him to family with positive results and would encourage anyone who is looking at the real estate market to give Peter a call. He is a pleasure to work with.

As first-time home buyers we didn't even know how to find a Realtor, much less find a house that we could make feel like home. We started looking at the MLS listings on our own; Peter happened to be filling in for the Realtor involved in the sale of one of the properties we were considering. After a walk-by it was clear that this first place wasn't the house we were looking for, but we had been impressed with Peter's prompt response to our inquiry (in late December, when many Realtors weren't returning our calls at all) and his candid assessment of our needs and asked him to become our Realtor.
We were particularly impressed that after a short interview Peter seemed to have a strong sense of what we were looking for. Within a day of meeting he had arranged for an electronic client account that would alert us to houses he felt might be suitable, even before they made it to MLS. One in particular caught our eye, and despite it being New Year's Eve Peter got right on it to arrange a viewing. A few days later we were able to see the house.
We fell in love with the house right away and were anxious that we would lose it if we didn't offer a high price (revealing our naivete as first-time buyers). Peter was terrific in helping us realistically assess the property's strengths and weaknesses and determine an appropriate initial offer. He also helped us understand the importance of occupancy date and conditions as part of the offer (we had been solely focused on the money), and helped facilitate us finding a reputable building inspection company. He spent the entire day helping us with the paperwork, even driving one of us to work for a meeting so we could have more time that day to do everything needed to make a solid offer to the sellers.
Peter continued to help us with each step from acceptance of the offer to possession. We were really touched that when we moved in he had left a card, bottle of champagne, and welcome home balloon to help make it feel like the special home it has become for us.
The saying "start right, finish right" really was true for us. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Peter as a Realtor, especially to other first-time home buyers.
